About upgrading

Upgrading is a two‐part process that involves first installing AccountRight Basics 2011, then upgrading your company file to use with it. When you upgrade your company file, the records and transactions within your file are copied into a format that will work with AccountRight Basics.

How long does it take to upgrade?

We recommend you set aside time outside of your normal business hours to complete the upgrade tasks. Depending on how you currently use your software and on how fast your computer’s performance is, allow an hour or more to complete all the upgrade tasks.

What should I do first?

  • Check that your computer can run AccountRight Basics 2011 in the Getting Started Guide (PDF 350KB) .
  • Back up your company file data in your current software version.
  • Know your software serial number (check your purchase confirmation email from us).
  • Download the Release Notes (PDF 422KB) .

Important: Update your software regularly

To ensure your AccountRight software always runs as it should, you need to keep it updated with the latest changes. To make this easy, updates are distributed regularly via Software Manager (which is installed with AccountRight). Software Manager can be set to check for updates each time you open your company file. For more information about Software Manager, click the Help & Support tab above.
