Information updates

UPDATE – 5pm, Friday 13th April 2012

Hi everyone,

Hopefully you’ve all had a chance to look at and experience the improvements delivered in Service Pack 3 for AccountRight.

Service Pack 4 – what to expect

We’re finalising the inclusions for Service Pack 4 at the moment. The areas that are currently being focused on are:

  • Faster Payment Summaries
  • Show / hide inactive cards and items
  • Faster Payroll Processing (for Australia)
  • Ability to save column resize and reposition preferences

As we get a more definitive list of the specific enhancements and fixes that Service Pack 4 delivers, we’ll be sure to pass this information on to you.

ACCOUNTRIGHT 2011 TIPS AND TRICKS

Separating dates with full stops

Many of you are familiar with using a full stop as a date separator in AccountRight version 19. Did you know this is still possible in AccountRight 2011? You just need to make an adjustment in the Windows Regional & Language settings.

To access in Windows 7:

  • Click into the Windows start button> Control Panel> Region and language
  • Select “Additional Settings”  and then the “Date” tab
  • In the “Short Date” field replace the ‘/’ characters with ’.
  • Click apply
  • Close and re-open AccountRight 2011.

You should now find all date fields are shown with a ‘.’ separator and that you can successfully use ‘.’ on the keyboard when keying in dates.

It’s important to note that this is a system-wide setting and may change the way short dates are displayed in other applications as well.  A support note has been created with the above steps (including screenshots and instructions for older operating systems) and can be accessed here.  There’s also a library of dedicated AccountRight 2011 Support Notes which can be accessed here.

Did you know?

When drilling down into reports, clicking an item doesn’t make the report disappear. The report simply moves to the background, and is easily reached again by pressing ALT+TAB at the same time. By the way, that ALT+TAB shortcut is one of Windows’ many, many keyboard shortcuts that help to speed up menial tasks in most Windows applications. Here are some more.
As always, we want to hear from you – please feel free to join in the conversation.

UPDATE – 5pm, Friday 30th March 2012

Hi everyone, a quick update on AccountRight for you all:

The latest Service Pack has been out for a couple of weeks now. If you haven’t yet run it, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible. It addresses a number of things that will certainly make your business life easier.

Looking ahead to our next service pack (exact date tba), a couple of improvements to look forward to include:

  • Faster processing of recurring transactions
  • Faster payroll processing
  • Faster payment summaries.

Those first two changes are in response to your feedback. The third – payment summaries – is something we’ve been working on as a result of our internal testing. We were unhappy with the speed of the original process so have enhanced its performance for the next service pack.

HANDY HINTS

In the latest version of AccountRight, there are tweaks and shortcuts that you might not be aware of. Here are a couple we’ve passed on to users recently that have made all the difference to their work processes.

Speeding up your bank reconciliation:

  • Open the Bank Reconciliation Screen and select your statement date
  • Enter a transaction using the right-click menu
    • By entering transactions this way the bank reconciliation screen will refresh automatically after entering each transaction.
    • Keyboard shortcut:  <Ctrl><Shift><F10> then ‘t’ then ‘s’ for spend money

See our full list of support notes

We’ve received plenty of excellent feedback about the performance enhancements included in Service Pack 3. Of course we’re keen to hear about your experience, too. So please feel free to join in the conversation.

We’ll keep you updated on everything AccountRight as it comes to hand!

AccountRight 2011 Service Pack 3 message

We know there is a lot of interest around the next AccountRight 2011 update, and it’s important to all of us here at MYOB that we keep our clients and partners regularly informed.

As mentioned on both this page and within our Community Forum, we have a service pack due to be released shortly that targets specific areas of AccountRight 2011 to improve speed and performance.

We are happy to report that testing has shown significant improvement, in particular the finding transactions, transactions journal and record journal entry, the payroll assistant and the sales register. We’ve also resolved many reported issues in relation to banking, payroll, purchases, inventory, sales and reports.

Final testing is continuing over the next one to two weeks, with a focus on real world testing by clients. You can expect another update as soon as the service pack is available. As always, the accompanying release notes will contain much deeper detail.
In the meantime, we wanted to give you an idea of what’s new in this update:

  • Optimised memory for improved performance
    • We've targeted specific areas of AccountRight to deliver significant speed and performance improvements.
  • Usability improvements
    • We’ve made a raft of improvements to usability. They range from improvements in installation, purchases and inventory, to auto-population of some fields in sales and ensuring the selection of an item in a list window is retained when you open additional windows.
  • Stability enhancements
    • There are a number of changes in this update that make the product even more stable and reliable than previous versions.
  • An update to customised forms
    • We’ve made it easier to format forms with the ability to customise table borders in forms, plus table columns and column headers can now be formatted automatically based on the text size.

We’re keen to continue to improve the AccountRight experience, and we’ll be listening to your feedback over the coming months to continue to evolve the product. The new code base that AccountRight 2011 has been built on allows for updates and the ability to seamlessly deliver new ideas and suggestions to improve the way the software works - major benefits of moving this product to the new platform.
